The NABOB Telecommunications Education and Management Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit corporation founded in 2001 to educate and train the next generation of leaders in the telecommunications industry. The NABOB Foundation provides scholarships to college students pursuing careers in broadcast and telecommunications management. The NABOB Foundation also provides training fellowships to participate in NABOB management conferences to young entrepreneurs and broadcast managers. The NABOB Foundation is a training ground to ensure that, as the telecommunications industry continues to grow and diversify, minority entrepreneurs will have a meaningful role in owning and managing telecommunications businesses.

As broadcast station owners and senior management themselves, the members of our board understand the struggles of ownership first hand and possess an outstanding commitment to achieving NABOB’s overall objectives.

Media Sales Institute (MSI)

Since 2006, NABOB’s Management and Telecommunication Foundation and The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation have hosted the annual Media Sales Institute at Florida A&M University .The Media Sales Institute (MSI) is a ten-day, intense training program developed by Personal Selling Principles (PSP) in 1999 and launched at Howard University in 2000 for graduating college or university seniors who were passionately interested in pursuing a career in media sales. The curriculum was designed to provide an entree into media sales for talented students of diverse backgrounds.

In 2016, NABOB and PSP expanded the already successful Media Sales Institute (MSI) program to Atlanta, GA.  This was the first MSI (in the country) to target military personnel (Post 9/11), career changers and recent college graduates; who have a genuine desire to be in media sales. “Media Sales” is defined as selling advertising airtime or space (on or in) cable, digital, internet, outdoor, publications, radio and television. This combined population of diverse and technically savvy talent created a (first of its kind) rich learning environment for the media industry.
