In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop, The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB), a division of the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC), will honor legendary rapper, dj, and entrepreneur, MC Lyte, during an exclusive ‘Salute The DJ’ themed armchair conversation hosted by comedian, radio veteran, and “The Daily Show” correspondent, Roy Wood Jr., on Oct. 4, 2023 at 6 p.m.

This armchair conversation is featured programming within the 2023 NABOB & Power of Urban Radio Conference at the Marriott Washington Georgetown

MC Lyte is the first female hip-hop emcee to release a solo album, and the first female rapper to be nominated for a Grammy Award. As a multifaceted artist, actress, businesswoman, and philanthropist, MC Lyte’s indelible career spans over three decades and continues to inspire women’s inclusivity within hip-hop and entrepreneurial innovation.

In an exclusive armchair conversation with Roy Wood Jr., MC Lyte will journey through her rise in hip-hop, to becoming a sought-after voice-over talent, cross-platform media host, author, and production company owner. Additionally, the two will discuss their love of radio and their long-time association with broadcasting! Attendees will also have the opportunity for a brief Q&A at the conclusion of the conversation!

Make sure you are in the building for this historic moment!

Following the MC Lyte armchair conversation, the ‘Salute The DJ’ kickoff reception will wrap up the first day of conference events.
