NABOB & The NABOB Foundation Announce New Staff Members
Washington, D.C. – NABOB and The NABOB Telecommunications Education and Management Foundation are pleased to announce NABOB’s 2018 “Social Media Team”, Mrs. Tayler Roby – James, Ms. Nakaela Feagin-Hooks and Mr. Namon Jones. The Social Media Team will be responsible for building NABOB’s social media footprint, promoting the Foundation’s educational programs and providing relevant information to the stakeholders on NABOB’s initiatives and efforts.
NABOB’s Social Media Strategy… CONNECT/EDUCATE/EMPOWER. The team’s focus will be to connect NABOB member stations, connect NABOB member social networks, attract and retain new members, and connect a network of MSI graduates with the media industry.This year, NABOB celebrated its first 41 years of existence. As NABOB begins its next 40 years, NABOB President, Jim Winston said, “I am pleased to have this group of social media savvy individuals join us during this exciting period of the foundation and association’s renaissance.
Collectively they bring over 40 years of social media expertise to our members. Winston added, “their 40 + years of progressive experience in the social media space, will help strengthen the association, while building profitable relationships with numerous Fortune 500 Brands, for years to come”.
Mrs. Tayler Roby-James
A graduate from Florida A&M University with a B.S. in Journalism & Graphic Communication in 2010 and M.S. in Marketing & Strategic Communication Management from Purdue University in 2017. When Tayler completed the NABOB Media Sales Institute in 2010, she was recruited by TEGNA (formally known as Gannett Media Company) and worked as a sales and marketing professional for KARE 11 Local Television in Minneapolis, USA Today Southeast Region. She was then recruited by the Networks of 11Alive in Atlanta. Tayler recently works for The
Weather Channel as a Sr. Analyst, Strategic Insights. Her community & network affiliations include The Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Atlanta, Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association, ColorComm, and board member for The Flourish Foundation & Painted Pink, Inc.
Ms. Nakaela Feagin-Hooks
Nakaela graduated from The University of Florida with a B.S. in Journalism in 2015. In 2016, she graduated from The NABOB Media Sales Institute at the Atlanta University Center (AUC) and was immediately hired by TEGNA Media in Atlanta, where she has worked in the media sales department since joining the company. In 2015, Nakaela was recruited by the Atlanta International School to coach their 2015 High School Track Team; and also began serving as a missionary with Athletes in Action, a CRU affiliate with Georgia State University that same year. Since 2016, she has led the communications efforts for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. graduate chapter in Atlanta.
Mr. Namon Jones
He’s a graduate from Norfolk State University with a B.S. in Journalism & Mass Communications. Namon was recruited by the Virginian-Pilot Newspaper where he worked as an Account Executive for 8 years, and moved to Broadcast TV for CBS & ABC in Norfolk, VA and Washington, DC. Namon transitioned to management as a NSM in print and digital and eventually became a VP of Sales for Clear Channel Outdoor; he also served as a Digital Sales Manager/Director for Radio One and WHUR 96.3. He spent 10 years in the US Army and currently works for BET Networks, a Subsidiary of Viacom, Inc. as the Director of Sales, East Coast Digital, Social Media and Events. Namon’s community and network affiliations include
NABJ, NABOB, Victory Christian Ministries International, The Washington Redskins Marching Band and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.
Winston concluded, “With these additions to the NABOB team, we look forward to building upon our success as we plan for our 42nd Annual Fall Broadcast Management Conference and the 18th Annual Power of Urban Radio Forum in October, 2018. Details of the Speakers and Conference Agenda will be announced early next year.

NABOB is the only trade organization representing the interests of African- American owners of radio and television stations across the country. The association was organized in 1976 by a small group of African-American broadcasters who desired to establish a voice and a viable presence in the industry to address specific concerns facing African-American broadcasters. The NABOB Foundation was created to help prepare the next generation of broadcast
